Here we feature some of the many horses that have come into our lives its not possible to feature all of them as there simply wouldn’t be enough space! We hope to add a special section for every single one of them at some point.

Trigger
Back in 2018 we received word of a foal that had been left tied to a tree in a field, he had no food and no water, for how long we don’t know but he was very thin, he had been eating the tree bark out of hunger. After locating his owner he agreed to hand him over to us as he couldn’t afford to care for him. Once recovered Trigger was castrated and rehomed in Granada, Spain
Shoshana
We received news that a 3 year old PRE filly had been left in a field in Chiclana, Cadiz. Her owner no longer wanted her, why? We didn’t know. We took her in and within a few months it became apparent as why she had been left to starve. she had a genetic degenerative joint disease, meaning she would not be able to be ridden or breed therefore she was of no use to anyone. Shoshana now has a permanent home with us here at Equiscire.

Olly
This little pony was not a regular rescue because he had not been neglected or abused, he had been stolen. After nearly 10 years missing from his home in UK he was located in Granada, Spain. EquiScire set out to recover him and had him back home with his owner Julie within 4 months. You can read more about his story here
Canastera & Flamenca
Both these PRE mares came to us in 2015. The owner didn’t want them, not because he couldn’t feed them, but because instead of paying for a farrier to tend to their hooves he thought he would do it himself to save money, the result was both mares having laminitis and unable to walk without pain. When the vet told him they would need lots of specialist care he wanted to send them to slaughter. Fortunately we came to their aid, funded their much needed hoof care with an excellent equine podiatrist and re-homed them together in Málaga.

Amapola & Dusty
Amapola arrived like many in an emancipated state, she was so thin in fact that you could’t tell she was in foal. Despite being so underweight and weak she brought her baby into the world like a true fighter. She is now on the road to recovery with Dusty at foot and will be looking for a home when the time is right.
Margarita
This lovely old lady arrived at the rescue at the age of 30 underweight and, like most, unwanted. Within 6 months on a species specific diet adapted to her age she was looking like a youngster, Margarita is now an amazing 36 years young and lives as a paddock companion in a little village outside Vejer de la Frontera.

Drogon
Drogon was seized by local authorities along with other horses from a local dealer, he was in a terrible state with several open infected wounds over his body, full of parasites and starved. He also had a very bad case of wind sucking. Once rehabilitated Drogon went on to be a much loved trekking horse in Málaga.
