Why we do what we do
The reason we wanted to establish EquiScire comes from a simple belief: horses have given humanity everything they have.
They have carried us through battles, across continents and into places that would otherwise have been unreachable. They have helped us build societies, shape history, work the land, compete, travel and connect with one another. They have entertained us, supported us and, time and again, put their trust in us.
For many horses, that contribution has come at the highest price. Some have suffered through neglect, exploitation, injury and abuse, often as a result of the very purposes for which we have asked them to serve us.
For that reason, we believe we owe horses a great deal, regardless of what purpose they serve, or whether they serve any purpose at all. EquiScire was created from that sense of responsibility: to give something back to an animal that has given everything to us, and to help ensure that horses receive the care, respect and quality of life they deserve.
But our belief extends beyond the horses directly in our care. We want to share our knowledge and experience with others, because the greatest impact we can make is not only to provide the best possible care ourselves, but to help other owners do the same. Through education and access to reliable, scientifically based information, we hope to empower people to make better decisions about their horses’ welfare, nutrition and care.
Ultimately, EquiScire is about both doing and teaching, caring for horses in need while helping create a future in which more horses receive the care they deserve from the people responsible for them.
